About the workshop
THE LIVING SOILS WORKSHOP
What if we took a moment to discover what lies beneath our feet?
The workshop begins with a 30-minute Soil Walk through the natural surroundings of Le Pavillon. Guided by a facilitator, participants are invited to observe the soil from a different perspective, exploring its textures, smells and the forms of life it supports. A first sensory exploration to spark curiosity and discover this discreet yet essential ecosystem.
Back at Le Pavillon, it’s time for The Living Soils Workshop: a collaborative experience built around a 48-card game designed to help participants better understand how soils function, the biodiversity they support and the challenges involved in protecting them.
Throughout the game, participants discover the organisms that inhabit the soil and the interactions that bring this ecosystem to life. How do plants, fungi, microorganisms and minerals interact? What role do soils play in the major natural cycles? Together, the group reconstructs the essential processes that maintain the balance of this ecosystem and uncovers the invisible connections between different forms of life.
The workshop then invites participants to explore how agricultural practices have evolved and their consequences for soils and the environment. Travelling back through time, participants discover how our methods of food production have changed and the impact they have on this precious and finite resource.
Finally, it’s time for collective reflection: what alternatives exist to preserve soil health? How can we rethink our practices and take action, at different levels, to encourage more sustainable farming that respects the living world?
Combining hands-on observation, scientific discovery and collective discussion, The Living Soils Workshop offers a participatory experience to better understand the world beneath our feet and explore how we can take better care of it together.

Biography
Corentin Bisot
Corentin Bisot is a researcher specialising in mycorrhizae, the symbiotic associations between fungi and plant roots. His research focuses on the formation of mycorrhizal networks and the exchange of carbon, water and nutrients between living organisms in the soil.
Passionate about the interactions that shape ecosystems, he explores how the elements essential to life circulate, from the microscopic scale to larger natural systems.
Through his approach, he invites us to see soils from a different perspective: beyond their uses and the threats they face, he encourages us to discover a complex, interconnected living world, where organisms interact and share the resources essential to their survival.
