    About the workshop

Code ton jeu, invente ta manette !

In this workshop, children work in pairs to imagine their own mini video game: a world, a character, a goal and a few rules. They then program it in Scratch and control it using a controller they build themselves with Makey Makeys. Plasticine buttons, conductive drawings and repurposed objects: anything can become a new way to play.

Combining hands-on making, coding and creativity, the workshop invites participants to step behind the screen and discover how a game works, how a physical gesture becomes an action, and how they can invent their own rules. Along the way, they test and improve both their game and their controller before presenting their creation to the group.

To finish, it’s time to play: everyone gets to discover and try out each other’s creations. A playful and collaborative experience at the crossroads of gaming, art and technology.

    Biography

    Tic Tac Lab

Tic Tac Lab is a Brussels-based technology education space offering workshops, courses and events for young people and, occasionally, adults. Combining hands-on making with high-tech tools, participants get the chance to experiment with unusual machines such as laser cutters and 3D printers.

    THE SUPREME BOSSES

Charlotte and Margo met in 2016 at Museomix, a creative hackathon held in museums. Since 2022, they have been running Tic Tac Lab together.

Charlotte — Before joining Tic Tac Lab, Charlotte worked in cultural mediation for the Théâtre National and Kanal museum in Brussels. A highly skilled maker, she also managed MicroFactory and CityFab3. In her free time, she enjoys working on ceramics projects and discovering great restaurants!

Margo — At the age of six, Margo was already writing school textbooks for her brothers. Her passion for teaching has stayed with her ever since. In a previous life, she was a lawyer in Canada… but that was before she discovered Belgian fries!
