Marta Cerdà Alimbau

Marta Cerdà Alimbau brings functional beauty and emotion to Design, translating each project into an effective design that is unique. Her main body of work is focused on the boundaries between typography and illustration. While Marta’s style is strongly eclectic, she believes that the separation of these two disciplines into specialized activities is a limitation. Since 2008, she has worked on global projects which call for Art Direction, Design, Illustration and Custom Typography for Arts, Culture and Advertising Clients abroad.

The structure for Type to Image explores Marta Cerdà’s work as a journey from calligraphy to illustration, with various stops along the way. Throughout the journey, she will discuss the various disciplines and how she has tackled them through her work and how each relate to each other and overlap. It is a useful narrative that helps to highlight the multidisciplinary nature of her work, which encompasses anything from typeface design to digital illustration, book covers, posters, advertorial graphics, wine labels and so on.
