WHAT HOLDS OF THE LIVING
The artist
Anaïs Lossouarn is a french multidisciplinary artist based in Gouda (NL).
She creates instruments and spaces that expand perception and invite attentive presence. Through listening devices, haptic instruments, and speculative tools, she reframes our relation to technology, proposing tools built for resonance. Her work invites slowing down, drawing attention to the subtle, often unseen qualities of everyday elements and bringing a sense of enchantment to our surroundings. By amplifying and recontextualizing what already exists, she sets aside the feeling of "already knowing" and opens space for curiosity.

About the work
WHAT HOLDS OF THE LIVING
Stone sings through a gentle touch.
The recorded resonance of stone harps fills the space. Long drones emerge from wet hands slowly stroking their surfaces.
Stone carries a heartbeat.
Stone fragments hang from copper wires, carrying their resonance. Each one pulses with the recorded heartbeat of a different person, captured while they listened to the sound of the stone harps.
Visitors are invited to hold the suspended stones while listening to the composition. Bringing an ear to the copper wire reveals another path for the sound, connecting the listener to the vibrations held within the stone.
Sound, touch and heartbeats meet in the same material, where resonance is heard as much as it is felt. As the heartbeat vibrates through the mineral, the boundary and relation between stone and living body begins to blur.
