STEEL GRASS

Fascinated by airships and the idea of floating in the air, Jean-Pierre David wonders why nature has not created aerostatic life forms.

Through Aérosculpture, he has developed an artistic project based on helium, whose most iconic creation is undoubtedly the Aéroplume, a single-person airship.

Since the mid-1990s, he has been designing all kinds of inflatable objects, bringing them to life in lightweight installations or in large-scale aerial spectacles of monumental proportions.

Light has gradually found its way into his work thanks to the lightness and low power consumption of LED systems. Over time, he has devised lighting systems in which inflatables, LEDs, and electromechanical components intertwine.

All of his creations, tangible through their materiality, explore transparency or the speed of light. Design is an integral part of his works, and his objects are exhibited around the world.

STEEL GRASS:

Supple as a blade of grass and shiny like the most polished steel, Steel Grass sway in the wind. It draws the current of the air for us, gives substance to the rollers, traces the turbulence. Steel Grass tells us about the joyful and changing agitation of molecules in our atmosphere. Sometimes the dead calm, the perfect stillness of the mass of air makes Steel Grass an improbable silver sword stretched out towards the heavens.
